Using an area of vertical space rather than every available flat surface gives your cookies the space they need to cool and gives you the space you need to work.

If you make salsa with raw onions that you plan to save rather than eat right away, rinse the onions using cold water, then blot the onions dry before storing. Onions that are raw have sulfurous gas in them. This gas can ruin your fresh salsa. You can remove this gas by rinsing and drying the onions when they are raw.

There are some ways to properly take care of a cutting board made of wood. Excessive moisture, dryness, or heat all affect wood cutting boards and can cause them to split and change shape. Don’t submerge your board in water to clean it. Use a sponge and warm soapy water instead. Cutting boards should be treated regularly with specifically designed oil products. Let it dry for a while after oiling.

Frozen corn is a healthy and economical staple food, but serving it too often can inspire family rebellion. Give it a twist to quell mutinous rumblings at the dinner table. By stirring some flaked coconut into your corn, you can enjoy a Thai-style dish that everyone will love.

One way to eliminate odors when working with fish, garlic or onions is to use stainless steel as a base to rub them, and then wash them. You can keep your hands free from odors no matter the source, by using stainless steel rubbed onto your hands. Try the side of the sink or a spoon.
